Nite-nite: Gary Coleman 1968-2010

...and the Diff'rent Strokes curse continues. First, Dana Plato dies in a trailor in Vegas, now Arnold.

Gary Coleman, who played Arnold on Diff'rent Stokes in the 80's, died today in Utah at 42. He suffered a brain hemorrhage on Wednesday at his home.

His shortlived success, led to years of money and legal problems. It all started in 1989 when he sued his parents for inappropriately handling his money. He then filed bankruptcy in 1999. He's also been arrested for assault, disorderly conduct, and domestic violence.

The poor guy never really seemed to find happiness. At least now he's found peace.

So that's two of the three kids from Diff'rent Strokes. Todd Bridges, you should count your blessings.
...meanwhile Conrad Bain (who played Philip Drummond) is goin' strong at 87.

Kelly Clarkson calls out Kanye better than anybody

I love Kelly Clarkson. Always have. Ever since her first audition on American Idol in Season One I wanted her to win. I followed her through the season, calling every week to vote for her. (I know, get a life) Then, when she went on to release albums, I was right there on opening day to get them...and they were awesome. Every one. I've seen her in concert a few times. Once, with Reba which obviously sealed the deal for me as a die-hard Kelly fan. Reba's husband, Narvel actually now manages Kelly.

Anyway, I have a new reason to love her. This nice, innocent girl from Texas called out Kanye on his dick-move last night better than anyone. Here is her blog entry from her website:

Kanye West

Dear Kanye, What happened to you as a child?? Did you not get hugged enough?? Something must have happened to make you this way and I think we're all just curious as to what would make a grown man go on national television and make a talented artist, let alone teenager, feel like shit. I mean, I've seen you do some pretty shitty things, but you just keep amazing me with your tactless, asshole ways. It's absolutely fascinating how much I don't like you. I like everyone. I even like my asshole ex that cheated on me over you...which is pretty odd since I don't even personally know you. The best part of this evening is that you weren't even up for THIS award and yet you still have a problem with the outcome. Is winning a moon man that much of a life goal?? You can have mine if it will shut you up. Is it that important, really??

I was actually nominated in the same category that Taylor won and I was excited for her...so why can't you be?? I'm not even mad at you for being an asshole...I just pity you because you're a sad human being.

On a side note, Beyonce has always been a class act and proved again tonight that she still is. Go TEXAS!!

Taylor Swift, you outsell him ....that's why he's bitter. You know I love your work! Keep it up girl!KC :)

Kelly Clarkson is awesome, for yet one more reason. Cool beans.

Dancing with the Stars cast announced

Kelly Osbourne and Melissa Joan Hart will join 14 other competitors on this season's DWTS. I used to hate this show and somehow now I'm sucked in. It must be the witty banter and sexual tension between Tom Bergeron and Bruno Tonioli. The show used to be somewhat of a joke because of their consistent D-list cast; but in recent seasons they have stepped up the calibur of contestents. They threw in a few B and C listers, which they have done again this year. Still, a healthy amount of D listers. My fave contestent this year is Tom DeLay. The ultra-conservative Repub from Congress who resigned after getting indicted for campaign finance issues.

Other contestents include Debi Mazar, Entourage actress and friend of Madonna who posed for NoH8. Macy Gray, Kathy Ireland, Mya, and some sports people. Oh, and the son of George Hamilton and Alana Stewart. Yeah, like I said, healthy dose of D's this year. It will be fun to watch Kelly Osbourne and Debi Mazar though, love them.

Tom DeLay will be entertaining too. Oh, I almost forgot Donny Osmond. I'm sure Marie will be right there in the audience every week. Maybe he'll faint too. Did wonders for their ratings and got her the Jenny Craig gig.

Kathy Griffin and Sarah Palin at Thanksgiving?!?

Sounds crazy, right? Well, since Kathy Griffin showed up at the Teen Choice Awards with Sarah Palin's grandbaby's daddy, Levi Johnston, anything is possible. Now, it's obviously a publicity stunt, and a damn good one, but I'm sure it has Sarah and Bristol P seeing red. I could make a joke here about "...and I don't mean the fake crimson that they pump into Kathy's hair" but I like her too much :)

Now, look at this poor kid. He looks scared to death. Does he have any other look? He had that same moose-in-the-headlights look standing on stage at the Repub Convention with his pregnant Palin. It's that "oh sh&t, what did I get myself into?!" look. Here's a suggestion Levi, STOP GETTING YOURSELF INTO SH&T! You think this is going to make it easier for you to spend time with that baby? I mean, come on. Michael Jackson's pharmacist makes better judgement calls (sorry, still in "Roast" mode).

Anyway, this had to piss off the Palin's and that's good enough for me :) Love Kathy Griffin. If the rumor's about the Palin marriage are true, Kathy just might show up at the Emmy's with Todd!

"Can you call it a roast when you're that old? More like a cremation"

That was my own joke to roast Joan Rivers. Not bad, huh? What do you want from me, I'm not a comedian. Neither were half of the roasters! Bah-dum-bum.

Kathy Griffin hosted the Roast of Joan Rivers on Comedy Central. It was hilarious. A lot of jokes about old people, plastic surgery, and ....well, that's pretty much what every joke was about, told in many funny ways by many funny people. Here's a small sampling from Jeff Ross. If you want to watch it in its entirety, you ca probably catch it about 50 more times this week.

...and the winner is.....

Ferris Bueller's Day Off!! You voted (well, 9 of you did...not exactly a sampling of the masses) and picked FBDO as your fave John Hughes movie. Although, there was a bit of an uproar that I didn't include 16 Candles or Planes, Trains, and Automobiles so perhaps I should have a runoff vote.
Hmmm, nah. Mr. Jessica-Parker won fair and square.

Kathy Griffin's new book coming soon!

In just about one month, Kathy Griffin will be releasing her memoir "Official Book Club Selection: A Memoir According to Kathy Griffin". The book will chronicle her life from her dysfunctional (her word, not mine) upbringing in Illinois to her struggles as a young comedian, to her plastic surgeries. She will delve into the painful details of her divorce and what life is really like for her outside of what we see on "My Life on the D List". One of the many, many, many things I love about Kathy Griffin is how open and honest she is. No BS. She says it like it is. If you have seen her show or her stand-up, you know what I mean. I think the book will be an even more raw account of what it's really like to be her.

I can't wait to get the book. I've already pre-ordered it on Amazon. It's only $13.75! You can order it here.

Get the book. Watch "My Life on the D List". Go see her stand-up. Even go see her sit-down, she would somehow make that funny. She's awesome.

Watch a clip of her discussing the book here (Sorry, I couldn't embed it)

NOH8 Campaign hits SF!!

Today, from 11am-6pm the NOH8 campaign will be in San Francisco at the W Hotel to do their Northern California photo shoot. This is a grassroots movement to maintain focus on the injustice of Prop 8 which stripped gays and lesbians of their right to marry in California. There will most likely be a proposition on the 2010 ballot and NOH8 is seeking celebrity endorsers to continue champion their (our) cause.

If you happen to be in or around San Francisco this afternoon, stop into the W Hotel and be part of a just and worthwhile cause.

W Hotel - 181 3rd St SF. Corner of 3rd and Howard Map

Check out the pictures below of some of the celebs that have already lent their support. Thank you!!

Call Guiness, it's the oldest Beer Pong player!

When some of you hear "Guiness" you will assume I mean the World Record keepers. Others (most people I know) will hear "Guiness" and think of the beer. Well, in this case you can call either, or both. One to document the record and one to send refills for Betty White's red cups. Yes, Betty White at age 87 played beer pong with Jimmy Fallon on his late night talk show this week. This is seriously the hardest working woman in Hollywood. She will live to be 110 because she has a great sense of humor and truly seems to love what she does. We should all be so lucky! Check it out...

Happy Birthday Jay!

Jay Leno celebrates his 59th birthday today. There was brief question as to if he'd be able to celebrate when he was hospitalized last week for an undisclosed illness. Jay missed the taping of the Tonight Show for the first time in 17 years. Other than scheduled time off, Jay has never had a "sick day". We're glad he's back. Before you know it, he'll be handing the torch to that tall goofy Irish guy, Conan O'Brien. Below is a clip of last night's "Tonight Show" where Jay amusingly discusses his hospital stay.

Nite-nite: Bea Arthur 1922-2009

Bea Arthur, famous for her height, deep, raspy voice and quick wit passed away due to complications from Cancer Saturday in her home at age 86. She was born in New York (as if you couldn't tell) and made a name for herself on the stage and screen. Her most notable roles were "Maude" in the 1970's which dealt with some provocative issues such as abortion (yeah, in the 1970's!) and Dorothy Zbornak, the substitute school teacher who, with her mother (played by the late Estelle Getty) found friendship living with two widows (played by Rue McClanahan and Betty White...both still alive). One thing I loved about her was her ability to laugh at herself. She was often the butt of jokes, even later in life but took them in stride. If you get a chance, check out the Comedy Central Roast of Pam Anderson. You can see just how well she took it...and dished it. She will be greatly missed. Rest in peace Maude. Here's an interview with her from 2001:

Susan Boyle extreme makeover

I had secretly hoped this wouldn't happen, but meek Scottish villager turned world famous internet sensation Susan Boyle has undergone a complete makeover. I have mixed feelings about this. Why make her look like everyone else? Part of her charm is that she is a plain Jane. I would have liked to see an album cover with her caterpillar eyebrows and chapped lips. So, how do you feel? Should Susan Boyle have rejected the makeover if she's comfortable in her own skin? Should she welcome it? Vote in the poll to your right.

Really?

They couldn't come up with a better title for this article? This is an actual screen print from the Huffington Post. UPDATE: I get it now :) Hey, it's Monday.

Stephen Hawking very ill

Stephen Hawking, the wheelchair bound physicist was rushed to the hospital and is very ill. He has Lou Gehrig's disease. He's nearly completely paralyzed, cannot speak, and was not expected to survive into his 30's. He's now 67. What cracks me up about this guy is that in the mid-90's he left his wife for one of his nurses. Really? How does a guy who uses a Speak and Spell to communicate not only date, and get married, but manage to cheat on his wife and leave her for the nurse?!

Anyway, despite that, he's brilliant and so accomplished. Most people don't accomplish half of what he has in their lifetime and he has done it with such a severe disability. Here's hoping he gets well.
