TV, Film, and stage actor James Whitmore passed away from lung cancer on Friday at 87. To the older generations he was known for his westerns, musicals and dramas such as "The Last Frontier", "Oklahoma!", and "Planet of the Apes". To us (somewhat) younger folks (young in comparison to 87 at least) he was known as the spokesman for Miracle Gro
Though not known for his politics, Whitmore was an early supporter of President Obama (you were waiting for the signifigance, right?). Even campaigning for him in 2007. He was also an avid supporter of the separation of church and state. Rest in peace Mr. Whitmore. Now, I'm off to water my plants.
